(Sydney Harbour Wedding)
Sometimes love takes a leap of faith…. Or in this case a drive of faith.
Heidi & Jeff run. Rather fast, from what I gather. As international sprint champions they’re not the kind of people you may find drowning their sorrows at a bar. But that was how they first met, after a day of disappointment when both of them had experienced a bad race. So they began to chat …. and they chatted… and they chatted….
When it was time for them to leave Jeff made his move. He placed his hand on the small of Heidi’s back and followed her out.
She had moved to New York from Australia. He lived in South Carolina. Would he ever see her again?
He called her, they skyped. A week or so later he told his brother that he was thinking of driving to see her. His brother said that when it came to women, Jeff often shrugged his shoulders. Not this time. He looked his brother in the eye and said “I’m gonna do it”.
So he got in his car.
About half way into the 9 hour drive he began to hyperventilate. What if she didn’t want to see him? What if it wasn’t what he thought it was?
He rang a friend. “Abort mission”, was the advice. “Dude, you’re insane. Turn around & come home”.
But he didn’t turn around. He had one goal in mind.
And when Jeff made his speech last night at their wedding on a balmy spring evening on Sydney Harbour he said that tonight, he had finally achieved it.
